Forbes has ranked greater New Orleans first in the U.S. when it comes to brainpower.
An article in the magazine found the New Orleans metropolitan area gained 44,000 graduates from 2007 to 2012. That's a 20.3 percent increase, which is nearly double the national average of 10.9 percent.
New Orleans tied with San Antonio for first place.
The rest of the top 10 "Brainpower Cities" in the U.S., according to the article, were Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky.; Houston, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Raleigh, N.C.
