Jimmy Fallon to Replace Jay Leno on 'Tonight Show' in 2014
Unnamed talent agents have been contacted recently by NBC executives about a potential replacement for Fallon in the 12.35am slot, according to The New York Daily News.
NBC's apparent attempts to reach out for a new Late Night presenter could indicate that the network is lining up Fallon to take over The Tonight Show.
Leno recently extended his current contract with NBC into 2014, but took a 50% pay cut to pay for a 20% decrease in The Tonight Show's $100 million annual budget.
If Leno is replaced as Tonight Show host in 2014, it will mark NBC's second major change to its late-night line-up in five years.
Conan O'Brien previously took over The Tonight Show from Leno in 2009, but NBC reinstalled Leno and sacked O'Brien several months later amid much controversy. O'Brien later said that he likely will never speak to Leno again.
