Debra Messing and Eric McCormack were on the same stage Monday night for the first time in six years and their timing is still as flawless as ever. RumorFix was there.
The Will & Grace stars were one of the highlights at Trevor Live New York, which raises funds for The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to gay youth.
Eric, who is starring in Broadway’s Best Man, congratulated Debra on the success of SMASH and joked, “Who would have thought you would star in a show even gayer [than Will & Grace]?”
Debra noted that Vice President Joe Biden recently credited the comedy with changing opinion about gay rights. Taking credit, Debra joked, “It was my subtext.”
The comic duo lamented that they’ve never been invited to the White House. In her classic Grace delivery, Debra shouted, “At least a f**king tea with Michelle [Obama]!”
The star who just filed for divorce has a six-month-old son and told the crowd, “I hope my son isn’t straight!”
Eric, who has a nine-year-old son, said said the same thing, “I pray to God that my son be gay.” His joke continued, “What about everything that he would miss … the parades he’ll never march in.. the meals with skinless chicken breasts with brown rice?”
