It's Official! NBC Orders New 'Will & Grace' Episodes!

NBC has ordered a 10-episode limited revival that will reunite stars Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally during the 2017–18 TV season, the network announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Wednesday.

Original series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will act as showrunners and executive producers, while prolific director James Burrows, who directed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, is on board to direct and executive produce.

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”

Said Mutchnick: “Dave and I are absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to write what Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are thinking about in 2017.”

Beverly Leslie aka  Leslie Jordan told Queerty that Megan Mullally was working on plans to bring her infamous alter ego Karen Walker to Broadway “Karen: The Musical”, but NBC Stopped it.

“She had an idea for it, but was hesitant to tell me because she knows I have a big mouth. She said, “I have this idea and it’s just you and me.” I said, “Honey, have you got permission?” She was very serious about it and had cleared it. She was about to hire someone to write the book and the music when NBC told her, “We aren’t saying ‘no,’ we’re saying, ‘not now.’”

‘The reason was they were in negotiations for one more round of syndication rights and they couldn’t have us out there messing around with the brand. They were nice, but she was really upset about it. She had gotten permission from [Will & Grace creators] David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. They told her to go have fun and wished her the best.’
