An unexpected source has confirmed speculation that singer and actress Jennifer Lopez will be returning to "American Idol" as a judge on its 2014 season.
Lopez's boyfriend, Casper Smart, let the news slip during an interview with E! News regarding his new nuvoTV show, "Step Away."
"Yes," Smart said when asked if Lopez was returning to the show for Season 13.
Fox had no comment regarding the accidental announcement. The network, however, has expressed earlier interest in having Lopez, 44, return.
"Jennifer has been a close part of the show all along... there have been discussions there," Kevin Reilly, Fox Network President, previously said in a press conference.
Smart told E! News that he thought the announcement had already been made.
"Returning to 'American Idol' makes sense for Jennifer this season as the show's schedule will allow her to focus on new film and TV projects at the same time," an E! News source said. "And, of course, her twins are starting school this year, and she will have time for her family.
