Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is letting go of his "mistress" -- his judging stint on "American Idol" -- "before she boils my rabbit," he says in a statement today.
Tyler says he will return to focusing on the band. "The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass -- the ultimate in auditory takeover," he says.
Aerosmith's next album, "Music from Another Dimension," comes out in November. "'Idol’ was over the top fun, and I loved every minute of it," he says. "Now it’s time to bring Rock Back."
“A true music icon, (Tyler) not only brought rock ’n’ roll to the show, but also his exceptional taste in spotting and nurturing undiscovered talent," says "American Idol" producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz of FremantleMedia. "We will sincerely miss his poetic phrases" -- that's a nice way to put it '' "his remarkable creativity and his unique spirit."
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez, Tyler's fellow judge for the last two seasons, has hinted yet again that she will not return to the judges' dais. In an interview with Natalie Morales on the “Today” show this morning, she says, “I love everybody, I love the guys, but I am thinking it’s time for me to go and do other things I love to do, like films.” MTV reported earlier this week that former finalist Adam Lambert, the season eight runner-up, is a contender for her spot.
