ABC’s “Good Morning America” is poised to snap a winning streak of more than 16 years by its NBC archrival, the “Today” show.
Those are the preliminary figures released Monday. The final audience numbers are out Thursday.
If the victory is sustained by those final figures, “GMA” will have outperformed “Today” for the first time since the week of Dec. 4, 1995.
The steady rise of “Good Morning America” in recent months has threatened one of TV’s longest-running streaks. The unbroken dominance of “Today” has been a major point of pride at NBC with millions of dollars in advertising at stake.
