New Orleans "Trump" Skyscraper Project Officially Dead!!

A 70-story, $400 million condominium project in New Orleans announced the day before Hurricane Katrina turned toward the city is officially dead.


    The Times-Picayune reported that the site of the proposed Trump International Hotel & Tower was sold at an auction last week to a company that operates a parking lot there.


    The site is across the street from the federal courthouse complex in downtown New Orleans.
There have been no signs of motion on the project for several years.


    Attorney Stephen Dwyer, who represents developer Poydras LLC, said the twin hurdles of the storm and the national financial meltdown doomed the project.  But Dwyer said the developer still has hopes of bringing a project to New Orleans.

The newspaper said the land was sold for $5.44 million.
