Joan Rivers Remembered At Star-Studded Funeral

Howard Stern delivered the eulogy, Broadway singer-actress Audra McDonald sang "Smile" and bagpipers played "New York, New York" at Joan Rivers' funeral Sunday, a star-studded send-off that — like late comedian herself — brought together the worlds of Hollywood, theater, fashion and media.

At a funeral befitting a superstar, the New York City Gay Men's Chorus sang Broadway hits including "Hey Big Spender" before six-time Tony Award-winner McDonald sang her tribute to Rivers, a champion of theater for decades.

Tributes and reminiscences were delivered by TV anchor Deborah Norville, close friend Margie Stern, columnist Cindy Adams and Rivers' daughter, Melissa, who spoke about how she respected her mother and appreciated everyone's support.
Hugh Jackman sang "Quiet Please, There's a Lady On Stage" at the end of the ceremony and bagpipers from the New York City Police Department played on the streets as mourners filed out of Temple Emanu-El, many dabbing their eyes.
"She would love this. We've all said this so many times: The one person who would really think this is the greatest thing ever is the lady who it's all about and she's not here," said Norville afterward, amid the throngs of well-wishers and sound of bagpipes.
A legion of notables turned out to remember Rivers, who died Thursday at 81: comedians Kathy Griffin, Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg; colleague and friend Kelly Osbourne; Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick; and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz.
Theater stars Bernadette Peters, Alan Cumming and Tommy Tune were there. Record producer Clive Davis was, too. Fashion designers Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors were in attendance. Stars from TV such as Barbara Walters, Geraldo Rivera, Diane Sawyer, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb and Andy Cohen. Late night band leader Paul Shaffer. And moguls Barry Diller, Donald Trump and Steve Forbes.
"It was uplifting. We were celebrating her life," said fashion designer Dennis Basso.
Mourners had lined up outside the Fifth Avenue synagogue and waited for their names to be checked against a list before entering. A crowd of media stood watch across the street, and fans from as far away as Australia and England lined the streets.
Actress Susan Claassen, who met Rivers in London in 2008 when both had one-woman shows, came from Tucson, Arizona, to honor her friend. "I always like to say that in a world of knockoffs, Joan was an original," she said.
The comedian detailed in her 2012 book "I Hate Everyone ... Starting With Me" that she hoped for "a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action" and "Hollywood all the way." Instead of a rabbi talking, Rivers asked for "Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents" and "a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce's." Indeed, her wishes were so important they were printed in the funeral program.
The funeral program also included a page with three classic Rivers' lines printed out: "Can we talk?" ''Who are you wearing?" and "Because I'm a funny person."
Her publicist said that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to God's Love, We Deliver; Guide Dogs for the Blind; or Our House.

Rosie O'Donnell Re-Joining 'The View' !!!

Rosie O'Donnell has signed a deal to return as a co-host on "The View," TMZ reported on Tuesday.

The site said that O'Donnell has agreed to come back to the talk show she famously (or, if you prefer, infamously) led for one very tempestuous season.

"The View" is in serious rebuilding mode, with every host but Whoopi Goldberg having departed in the past two months. The program O'Donnell would return to would look completely different from the one she left. (Most conspicuously, there will be no more notorious brawls with Elisabeth Hasselbeck.) The combination of Goldberg and O'Donnell would certainly be an intriguing one.

O'Donnell has popped up on "The View" twice recently. She returned in February and gave the show an instant jolt of energy. She also joined the cavalcade of former "View" hosts to salute Barbara Walters when Walters retired in May.

Rosie O'Donnell Close To Closing Deal with 'The View,' Sarah Palin In Discussions

Rosie O'Donnell is plotting her return to 'The View' but will she be seated next to former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin?

A source very close to the production of the ABC talk show tells ET that Rosie's deal is not completely done but they are extremely close to wrapping up negotiations.

News of Rosie's pending return to The View comes after Barbara Walters' departure from the program in May and the announcement that both Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd are leaving.

ET is also hearing that Palin is in early discussions to be on the show, but she is just one of many being considered. Some on the production believe she might be too polarizing for the daytime talk show audience.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of people behind the scenes working to reshape the show and ET's source says there is a sense of excitement at the network.

Kelly, Rosie, Whoopi, Katie, Hoda, Kathie Lee And More Sing Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls'

Cyndi Lauper has plenty to celebrate – and she's not doing it alone.

Not only is the singer-songwriter Tony-nominated for her critically acclaimed score to the best-musical contender Kinky Boots, but she's also marking the 30th anniversary of the monster hit that first put her on the map, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," which she released in 1983.

To celebrate? She was totally surprised by the Kinky Boots ensemble. After quietly securing permission from Lauper's manager and her record company, Sony Music, they assembled this performance music video of Lauper's signature number.

"It's so sweet, I'm crying," Lauper, 59, during a quick break from rehearsal Monday, told PEOPLE of her reaction to what was done – and about those who participated. She first saw the video Sunday night, before it was posted to YouTube.

"The Kinky Boots cast is so funny, and all the other shows participating is the sweetest thing I've ever seen," she said.

The four-minute video's guest-star girls – all with boots in hand – include Kelly Ripa, Rosie O'Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Katie Couric, Holland Taylor, Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford and, in addition to Kinky Boots, members of the casts from such current Broadway shows as Annie, The Lion King, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and Chicago.

Rosie O'Donnell Married Fiancee Michelle Rounds

Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds are married.

Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds are married, though they have yet to celebrate with a dream wedding, the former talk-show host announced in a blog post Monday.

"[W]e married in private / before her surgery / just the 2 of us," O'Donnell wrote in her usual free-form style.

The two, who announced their engagement in December, had planned to wed in August. They moved up the date to June 9, right before Rounds' first of several surgeries to remove gastrointestinal desmoid tumors, O'Donnell's rep told People.

On her blog, O'Donnell noted that the scheduling change was fortunate, "as i was in ICU" on the date they'd originally earmarked, 10 days ago. On Aug. 14 she suffered a heart attack, though she didn't immediately see a doctor.

"[W]hen we r both well enough / will have the wedding of r dreams / surrounded by those we cherish / thankful for the love and support / so many have given us / during these trying times," she wrote, "including all of u / stranger-friends / connected thru invisible strands / of wi fi."

Desmoid tumors are a rare, cancer-like illness, also known as aggressive fibromatosis, that can arise in any part of the body, according to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation. Though they cannot metastasize, they can destroy adjacent tissue, including organs, and can be life-threatening, the foundation's website says.

O'Donnell said she's been painting a lot since her heart attack and is currently EBay-auctioning several works to benefit the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.

Oprah / OWN Cancels 'The Rosie Show'

OWN announced today it will cease production on Rosie O’Donnell’s daily talk show next week after five months on the air. The final episode will air March 30.

I’m grateful to Rosie and the dedicated Rosie Show team for giving it their all.”

The Rosie Show, which is taped in Oprah’s old Chicago studio, will tape its last installment March 20.
