Mardi Gras 2015 to Enjoy More Parades, Larger Krewes

Mardi Gras 2015 is here and the celebration shows few signs of shrinking. In fact, this 10th Mardi Gras after Hurricane Katrina looks to be another growth year, as both Orleans and Jefferson Parishes welcome a new krewe and many of the existing parades continue to grow and add members.
The superkrewes of Bacchus, Endymion and Orpheus should not disappoint, with the usual mix of celebrity guests, float innovations and the throws, bands and spectacle they have become known for. Endymion is introducing E-TV, a giant, interactive LED video screen on a float, which will alternate live images of the crowd with krewe logo-emblazoned graphics. Country music heartthrob Luke Bryan is this year's celebrity monarch. Orpheus is also going country with its headliner – singer Dierks Bentley. The krewe, which counts Harry Connick Jr. as its founder and music as its inspiration, will honor the late Cosimo Matassa on a special doubloon. Several cast members from the hit CBS drama "NCIS: New Orleans" will also appear in the parade. The night before, Bacchus welcomes as its celebrity monarch the actor/comedian/singer John C. Reilly.
