Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, has released an update about her mom's condition. After arriving in New York City to be by the comedienne's side on Thursday, Aug. 28, Melissa spoke out in a statement to Us Weekly via Mount Sinai Hospital rep Sid Dinsay.

"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," the statement read. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."

As reported earlier on Thursday, comic legend Joan Rivers, 81, was hospitalized in critical condition after she experienced complications during throat surgery at a New York City clinic. Per TMZ, the Fashion Police host stopped breathing during the procedure and had to be rushed to Mount Sinai.

Around midday, E! News correspondent Ken Baker tweeted that she was "in stable condition." Hours later, a source told Us that she had been placed in a medically induced coma.
