President Obama Halts Speech to Catch Pregnant Woman Fainting Behind Him

U.S. President Barack Obama

President Obama jumped to the rescue of a pregnant woman who started to faint during one of his interminable speeches.

After half an hour of talking about healthcare reforms, the US president became aware of a kerfuffle behind him.

He turned to see Karmel Allison struggling behind him, and stepped in to steady her before she keeled over.

"I gotcha, you're okay," said the heroic president.

Ms Allison had been smiling throughout the speech, but suddenly began to appear lightheaded, blinking several times as she fought against a dizzy spell in the hot Washington DC sun.

The incident sparked rousing applause, especially when President Obama joked: "This happens when I talk too long."

According to the New York Daily news, Mill Allison suffers from Type 1 Diabetes.

She later tweeted her thanks to Obama after the incident.

"I'm ok world - just got a little lightheaded. Thanks, @BarackObama for catching me!" she wrote.
