Saints' Drew Brees is 'NFL's Highest-Paid Player' in 2013


A Wednesday report by Forbes names New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees "The NFL's Highest Paid Player" in 2013.

According to Forbes, the seven-time Pro Bowler earned a total of $51 million from June 2012 through June 2013. The league's top earner earn took home $40 million in salary and an additional $11 million in endorsements.

In June of last year, Brees signed a five-year, $100 million contract extension that included a $37 million signing bonus with the New Orleans Saints.

Some of his most lucrative endorsements deals include: Nike, Procter & Gamble, Verizon Wireless, Pepsi, Wrangler and others.


Brees not only led the Saints to their first Super Bowl victory in 2009, but also holds numerous NFL and franchise throughout what has been an illustrious career.

Last season, Brees surpassed Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas (47) for the longest streak in NFL history, registering at least one touchdown pass in 54 straight games.

He also became first player in league history to throw a minimum of 40 touchdown passes in consecutive seasons.

Finally, Brees joined Brett Favre (9) and Peyton Manning (7) as the only NFL quarterbacks ever to have at least five seasons with 30 or more touchdown passes.
