Just after midnight Wednesday morning, in Scott, LA, Police were called to Cowboy’s nightclub where a man was riding his horse inside the bar. Scott Police investigators tell NBC33 News 26-year-old James Rene Mouton got really drunk at the bar.
Police say Mouton had his horse in a trailer in the parking lot of the night club. After becoming drunk, police say Mouton unloaded the horse and rode it into Cowboys Nightclub. Mouton then allegedly rode the horse out of the bar and onto North Ambassador Caffery Parkway, just North of Interstate 10.
We’re told Mouton then rode the horse back into the bar. Police say a concerned bar patron escorted Mouton and his horse out of the building. Once outside, Scott Police say Mouton roped a 47-year-old man using a lasso. The man was allegedly dragged through the parking lot by Mouton, the horse, and his lasso.
Police say after the episode, Mouton brought the horse to his parents’ house on Renaud drive then walked back to the bar on foot. Scott Police arrived on scene and say Mouton tried to hide from them. Police were able to wrangle Mouton, and they tell us he threatened to retaliate against them when they were off duty. Mouton is now in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He’ll be in court to face multiple charges on Friday.
Mouton is facing the following charges: Disturbing the peace, remaining after being forbidden, second degree battery, public intimidation and retaliation.
