True love really does wait! Doctor Who actor John Barrowman was finally able to tell longtime partner Scott Gill "I do" after more than 20 years of dating on Tuesday, July 2, less than one week after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act last Wednesday, June 26.
The actor, 46, posted a short video clip online earlier in the day, showing him and Gill in a car on their way, presumably, to the courthouse.
"It's five after one and we've got our coffee and we're in the car getting ready to leave, because where are we going, Scott?" the Brit says into the camera excitedly before training the camera on Gill, who smiles and excitedly replies: "To get married. Yay!"
"We're getting married in the state of California," Barrowman ends the clip with a smile. "Thank you, Supreme Court, about time you made it legal. See you after we have the ceremony!"
The pair later posted an endearing shot of the two of them grinning big with their new marriage certificate, both of their hands prominently displaying their respective wedding bands.
"We are now legally married," they added. "Thanks for all your great wishes. JB and Scott."
