‘Big Bang Theory’ Season Finale Takes on ‘American Idol’ Finale

CBS had decreed that Sheldon and his geek buddies will finish the “Big Bang Theory” season on the same night ”American Idol” names a winner. Both programs air May 16.

It’s another sign that the networks see weakness in the “Idol” franchise.  The singing contest will name its next winner in a two-hour, seven-minute finale.

CBS will counter with a regular, 30-minute “Big Bang Theory.” Freshman drama “Elementary” also ends its season May 16.

As for other CBS season finales:
“Two and a Half Men” and “Person of Interest” conclude on May 9.
“The Good Wife” wraps April 28. A week later, on May 5,
”The Amazing Race” names a winner in a two-hour show, May 5
”The Mentalist” also finishes its season, May 5
“Vegas” and “Blue Bloods” conclude their seasons May 10.
“Survivor” delivers its two-hour season finale May 12,
“How I Met Your Mother” and “2 Broke Girls” will deliver season finales May 13.
“NCIS,’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Golden Boy” wrap up May 14.
“CSI” delivers a one-hour season finale May 15.
“Undercover Boss” stops work for the season on May 17.
“Rules of Engagement,” “Mike & Molly” and “Hawaii Five-O” will finish May 20.
