Lifetime just released the first trailer for its remake of the classic “Steel Magnolias“. When the network first announced they were giving the original 1989 chick flick a contemporary update with a twist, fans thought it was unnecessary.
The film stands the test of time and still as enjoyable today as it was back then. In the new version subbing in for Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts were Queen Latifah (M’Lynn), Jill Scott (Truvy), Alfre Woodard (Ouiser), Adepero Oduye (Annelle), Phylicia Rashad (Clairee) and Condola Rashad (Shelby).
