Report: Brees Sells San Diego Home

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has sold his home in east Del Mar for $2.4 million, according to San Diego County property records.

Brees and his wife bought the 6,000-square-foot home for $2.2 million in 2003, when Brees played for the Chargers. Built in 2002, the five-bedroom home is located in a gated community of Fairbanks Highlands and has 5.5 bathrooms, a pool and six garage stalls. It was sold to a vice president at Qualcomm.

Brees, 33, left the Chargers after the 2005 season but continued to own the home before first listing it for sale in 2010, according to real estate listings.

The area is popular with NFL quarterbacks. Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer and Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers still own homes in the area.

Brees is working on a new multi-year deal with the Saints that could pay him around $20 million per year.

In 2006, he bought a home in New Orleans in 2006 for $1.575 million.
