'Hunger Games' Heartthrob Liam Hemsworth Will Shoot Next Film In New Orleans

With "The Hunger Games" breaking box-office records last weekend, its first weekend in release, it's only natural to wonder what's next for the film's young stars. Well, for Liam Hemsworth -- who plays Gale Hawthorne in the film -- it's a trip to New Orleans.

Hemsworth will be in town next month to co-star with Dwayne Johnson and Emma Roberts in director Dito Montiel's drama "Empire State."

The film -- "about two childhood friends who plan to rob an armored car depository, and the NYPD officer who stands in their way" -- will start shooting April 30 for 20 days, according to the state's most recent listing of films shooting, or preparing to shoot, in Louisiana.

"Empire State" is being bankrolled by Emmett/Furla Films, the same outfit behind such locally shot projects as "Fire With Fire," "Lay the Favorite," "Freelancers" and "Broken City." It also is producing "The Tomb," starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and set to begin shooting in and around New Orleans April 16.
