Donna Summer, is an American singer-songwriter who gained prominence during the Disco era of the 1970s. She has a mezzo-soprano vocal range. Summer is a five-time Grammy winner and was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the US Billboard chart. She also charted four number-one singles in the US within a thirteen-month period.

Stevie Nicks’ Mom Passes Away At 84
The mother of Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks passed away yesterday (Dec. 29) in a Scottsdale, Ariz.-area hospital after a battle with pneumonia. She was 84.
A source close to Stevie reveals that the brokenhearted 63-year-old singer sat bedside with her mother for her final days. “Stevie was extremely close to her mother and barely left her side over the past few days — it was almost like a hospice situation as they knew she could pass at any minute,” the insider told the National Enquirer.
“Close friends and family also took around-the-clock shifts to make sure Stevie and Barbara were taken care of,” continued the source. “They also held frequent vigils for Barbara — they wanted to make sure she passed in the most comfortable and respected way possible.”
Barbara, who was considered a local celebrity in her own right in the Scottsdale area, owned an antique store called Silver Spring Emporium that stocked furniture, china, figurines and other items. It even had small collection of Stevie autographs and other Mac memorabilia.
“Stevie always says that Mom has her own fan club,” Barbara told The Arizona Republic in a 1997 interview. ”It’s the funniest thing for me to see.”
“We’re really very close,” she continued. “We always have been. She’s really a very special little girl. I mean, here I am calling her a little girl, but she always will be my little girl in a way.”
Funeral arrangements are being handled under the direction of Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, in Scottsdale. No details about services have been announced.

Russell Brand And Katy Perry To Divorce
The ‘Arthur’ star — who married the ‘Firework’ singer in India in October 2010 — lodged papers in Los Angeles citing “irreconcilable differences” but has vowed that the pair will remain friends.
According to gossip website TMZ, Russell said, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Russell, 36, and Katy had fueled speculation all was not well with their union after spending Christmas 7,000 miles apart with Katy in Hawaii, while her husband was in Cornwall, South West England.
The couple reportedly had a “massive fight” over the festive season and Russell was spotted shopping in London yesterday with his diamond wedding ring noticeably absent.
The pair are believed to have originally planned to spend the holidays with the comedian’s mother Barbara in London before they became involved in a furious argument, and Katy decided to jet off to Hawaii with friends.
A source recently explained: “They had a massive fight. She was like, ‘F**k you. I’m going to do my own thing,’ and Russell said, ‘Fine, f**k you too!’
“Things are not good. The fighting is getting worse.”

The Atlanta Falcons defense wasn't the only thing bowled over Monday night.
SMG Senior VP/Stadiums & Arenas Doug Thornton, whose company manages the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, said that with a "growing number of more than 70,000 fans excitedly sending photos, making calls and typing out text messages at various times" during Monday night's Falcons-Saints game, the "antiquated cell antenna system in the Dome was overwhelmed at times," according to Mark Schleifstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Thornton said, "You can't have 20,000 people trying to push data, photos and text and looking up things on the Internet at the same time in such a small space." But Thornton added that "at least one major New Orleans smartphone operator, Verizon, had problems involving its in-Dome cell antenna." A Verizon spokesperson said that the "antenna equipment -- designed for 3-G service -- was working, but it was overwhelmed by the number of people using smart phones on Monday night." Verizon is the official cellphone service of the Saints. Verizon PR Manager Gretchen Whitaker said that SMG has "agreed to allow Verizon to add some antennas inside the stadium this week to improve reception during" Sunday's game against the Panthers. Verizon is "one of several cellphone carriers that have leased space for antenna systems in the Dome in the past."
But the "rapid expansion in the bandwidth used by smartphones has quickly outstripped the ability of the inside antennas to handle the load created during a Saints game or other event, a trend that Thornton said Superdome officials have foreseen for quite some time."
SMG last year "negotiated a contract with AT&T to install a new, multimillion-dollar 'Distributed Antenna System' in the Dome designed to handle the larger bandwidth." Thornton said that the contract "required the new system to be open for use by all carriers, who will be installing connecting equipment in the next few weeks."
