Kelly Clarkson Gay Rumors Are Playing Havoc Her Love Life

Kelly Clarkson interviewed with E Online recently and she talked about the gay rumors that are putting her potential love life in jeopardy. “It’s just not helping me because I am straight,” Kelly Clarkson said. Guys are just not hitting on her because they think she is gay.

Along with telling her fans she is not gay, she also shared a few other tidbits that many may not know about this former “American Idol” contestant, like her intentions for going on that show.

When Kelly auditioned for American Idol, her apartment had just burned to the ground and she had nothing left but the clothes on her back and a box of pictures she managed to save. She never thought she would win, she was trying to get enough exposure to get a gig and earn a few extra bucks.

Kelly is desperate to duet with Adele. She loves her voice and thinks they would do an awesome duet together. She doesn’t care if they just sing backstage at an awards show; she just wants to sing with Adele.
Before being famous Kelly Clarkson was a waitress, a bartender and worked at a bookstore. She worked at Papa John’s, Subway, Star Bucks and also trained to sell vacuum cleaners door to door. She’s done it all.

New Orleans City Council approves modified plans for Canal Street high-rise

In a 5-2 vote, the New Orleans City Council gave its blessing Thursday to a proposed high-rise building on Canal Street, approving needed zoning waivers but also imposing some conditions on developer Praveen Kailas. Councilmembers Stacy Head and Cynthia Hedge-Morrell voted against the plan.

Harry Baker Smith ArchitectsArchitect's rendering shows design of proposed high-rise for the old Woolworth site at Canal and Rampart streets in New Orleans. The HDLC is expected to vote on the design.

Kailas wanted permission to build a 19-story, $70 million building at Canal and North Rampart streets on the site of a long-vacant former Woolworth's store. As he proposed it, the new structure was to contain 307 apartments, 486 parking spaces and 38,000 square feet of retail space, perhaps including a restaurant.

As proposed, most of the building would be 193 feet high, with a penthouse reaching to 205 feet, or three times the 70-foot limit allowed by the site's current zoning. The ordinance approved by the council will limit the building's tallest portion to 190 feet.

All My Children Bids Farewell After 41 Years

Erica Kane – and the rest of Pine Valley – have left the building.   The final episode of ABC's All My Children aired Friday, ending the soap opera's 41-year run.   How did everything wrap up? Keep reading to find out:

It combined final elements of both Gone With the Wind (with Erica being told by Jack that he didn't give a damn) and The Sopranos, with a Jack Daniels-fueled J.R. pulling the trigger into a packed party at the Chandlers' ... though viewers didn't really know who was the target. (It seemed to be Erica.)

While such spawning career-defining characters as Susan Lucci's indelible, 12-times-married Erica Kane, the show also launched the screen careers of Kelly Ripa, Sarah Michelle Gellar (who made a guest appearance this week), Josh Duhamel, Amanda Seyfried, Melissa Leo and others.

The beloved soap often embraced farcical storylines involving baby-switching, evil twins, amnesia, and the return of characters presumed to be dead. It was also groundbreaking, particularly in its early run during the 1970s, touching upon such once-taboo topics such as homosexuality and AIDS.
In 1973, Erica Kane became the first TV character to have a legal abortion. (Beatrice Arthur's Maude had an abortion on the CBS sitcom Maude the previous year.)

ABC announced the cancellation of both All My Children and One Life to Live earlier this year. The production company Prospect Park has announced plans to debut an online versions of the soaps in January; however, nothing has been finalized.

'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Gets Ecstatic Sendoff in New Orleans

Before 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, a return to the Navy wasn’t something Nicole Barbe could even consider. Twelve years ago, she was forced to leave the Navy, one of about 13,000 people discharged from the military under the 18-year-old “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy barring gay men and lesbians from serving openly in the military.
dont-ask-dont-tell-nicole-barbe.jpgView full sizeNicole Barbe said her revelation to her superior officer in the Navy in 1999 triggered an immediate investigation, in which even former coworkers were questioned.
Even before Tuesday’s repeal of that policy, she had begun talking to a recruiter about re-enlisting in the Navy Reserve.
“It feels like — I don’t know, like Christmas morning,” Barbe said Tuesday.
Gay and lesbian communities across the nation celebrated the reversal of the controversial policy enacted in 1993 under President Bill Clinton.
It was no different at the Boondock bar in the French Quarter, which was adorned with signs Tuesday evening announcing “Goodbye, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Barbe hosted the celebration on behalf of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, which helped her receive an honorable discharge after the Navy sent her packing in 1999.
President Barack Obama issued a statement saying he is confident that lifting the ban will enhance national security.
“As of today, patriotic Americans in uniform will no longer have to lie about who they are in order to serve the country they love,” he said. “As of today, our armed forces will no longer lose the extraordinary skills and combat experience of so many gay and lesbian service members.”
At a Pentagon press conference Tuesday, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said he is “committed to removing all of the barriers that would prevent Americans from serving their country and from rising to the highest level of responsibility that their talents and capabilities warrant. These are men and women who put their lives on the line in the defense of this country, and that’s what should matter the most.”
The military has spent months preparing its personnel with training about the change in the policy that had reached about 97 percent of the nation’s troops. The military had no estimates of how many service members have been hiding their sexual preferences. Barbe said she knows about 20 such people in New Orleans, serving both in the reserves and active duty.
A check with military commands in the state and region revealed no reports of service members revealing their sexual identity Tuesday. In fact, some military spokesmen greeted the question as “a non-issue.” Military officials said gay and lesbian troops will be treated with “respect and dignity,” a term that appears in undersecretary of defense for readiness and personnel Clifford Stanley’s memo released Tuesday announcing the repeal.
“All Marines, sailors and civilian Marines here at Marine Forces Reserve and those who are assigned to our units in 48 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia are Marines first, regardless of sexual orientation,” said Lt. Col. Francis Piccoli, director of public affairs for at Marine Forces Reserve, whose commander, Lt. Gen. Steven Hummer, led the repeal implementation team for the Pentagon before he assumed command of the New Orleans-based headquarters.
Lt. Col. Michael Kazmierzak, Louisiana National Guard’s state public affairs officer, described it as a policy for which Army and Air National Guard personnel have received training. “We don’t anticipate any problems whatsoever,” Kazmierzak said.
At the Naval Air Station-Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse, public affairs officer Andrew Thomas reiterated the Navy’s preparations for Tuesday. “All of our sailors have received the training associated with the repeal of ‘Don’t ask, Don’t tell,’ ” he said. “Sailors will continue to treat one another with dignity and respect in accordance with the Navy’s core values.”
With the publication of this story, Staff Sgt. Marissa St. Pe said, the Army will learn she is a lesbian. She hid her sexuality through four years as an active duty soldier and another four as a reservist with the New Orleans-based 787th Medical Detachment, where she is a preventive medicine specialist.
“I was actually one of them who pretended she had a boyfriend,” St. Pe said of her early years. “I gave up a lot of people and a lot of things just to make a career.”
She cautioned, however, that the nation still has far to go, when gay troops’ partners can receive the benefits.
dont-ask-don-tell-flier.jpgView full sizeNicole Barbe decorated the Boondock Bar with toy soldiers and posters that celebrate the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for a party in the French Quarter on Tuesday.
Barbe said having the ban accepted at the unit level rests largely on the leaders, because, as in society in general, homophobia will persist among troops. “You’re still going to have your bad seeds,” she said.
Barbe, then a weather forecaster and petty officer second class stationed in Kingsville, Texas, told her chief she was a lesbian in 1999 after four years in the Navy. Most of her coworkers knew about her sexual identity already and she had experienced few problems, she said. That changed after her admission to her chief petty officer.
“I was dealing with a little bit of harassment at the time, needless to say,” she said, adding that her commanders thought she was faking. “I’m paraphrasing: Good luck. You’re not going anywhere.’”
Her revelation triggered an immediate investigation, in which even former coworkers were questioned. She fretted about revealing her identity, fearing it put her “in harm’s way.” She contacted the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, and they helped ensure she would get an honorable discharge. She worked for the group about eight months and since has become an advocate.
“It’s not a gay issue,” Barbe said. “It’s a common sense issue.”

Lady Gaga Meeting With Obama To Discuss Anti-Bullying Law

The devastating suicide of a boy in upstate New York has prompted Lady Gaga to meet with President Obama for a discussion on anti-bullying legislation. 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, a high school student from Buffalo, took his life on Sundayafter being tormented by classmates for his homosexuality. The tragedy has the singer up in arms, calling on support from her fans and the president for young people in Jamey’s situation. “Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime,”she tweeted yesterday. “I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it#MakeALawForJamey.”
Though no stranger to gay rights, this case has special significance to Mother Monster. Several months back, Jamey posted his own “It Gets Better” support video on Youtube, in which he cited Lady Gaga as a role model and pillar of strength. “She lets me know that I was born this way,” he said at the clip’s conclusion. “Just love yourself and you’re set. And I promise you, it’ll get better.” But the bullying didn’t cease for Jamey. “No one in my school cares about preventing suicide,” Jamey posted to his Tumblr just a few weeks before his death. “I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens. … What do I have to do so people will listen to me?”
The unbelievably tragic tale has Gaga, and millions of others, furious and heartbroken. “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling,” she wrote. “I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life.” She hopes that the creation of a law making bullying a hate crime will save others from the agonizing abuse Jamey suffered. No official date for the presidential meeting has been set as of yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear.
