Jacob Lee, 31, allegedly robbed a bar in the 900 block of Bourbon St. on Sept. 9, and a grocery on the 600 block of Frenchmen St. on Sept. 13.
Lee was arrested about 11:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of Virgilian St. New Orleans Police Department spokesman Garry Flot said detectives went to the house acting on a citizen tip received through Crimestoppers. Another man, 20-year-old Keith Holmes, also was in the house and booked on a weapons charge.
In the Candy Bar incident, Lee allegedly entered the store around 1:30 a.m., pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money. Once the cashier complied, he fled. Video of the robbery was captured on the bar's security cameras.
On Monday, police accused Lee of entering the Frenchmen Grocery and Deli on Frenchmen St. just before 9 p.m. He produced a handgun, demanded money, and fled in a vehicle parked on the 2100 block of Chartres St. after the clerk complied.
The robberies in which Lee is accused occurred during a four-day period that saw nine armed robberies in the French Quarter-Marigny area. The Clothespin laundromat, located in the 800 block of N. Rampart St., also was robbed at gunpoint Monday night, but police did not accuse Lee in that incident.
