Star of stage and Glee, Jonathan Groff recently welcomed Broadway personality Susan Blackwell to his father’s horse farm in Strasburg, Penn., for a rather revealing interview. Groff showed Blackwell around the farm and introduced his dog Jesse St. James, named after his Glee character. It was just the first such gem sure to make the mouths of Gleeks and Spring Awakening fans water. So which Glee co-star has the dubious honor of having a goat named after him or her? What are Groff’s undergarment preferences? And does he have his sights set on an Oscar one day?
Highlights: Groff calls his goats, one of whom is named Lea Michele (burn!), by singing the “blah blah blah” refrain from Spring Awakening‘s “Totally F—–.” And in response to the (entirely inappropriate) questio,n “At this point, does the taste of Lea Michele’s mouth seem like home to you?” Groff answers a firm no without hesitation. He would like an up-close and personal moment with two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster’s kisser — just don’t tell Bobby Cannavale.
And that’s wasn’t the only revelation. Groff boldly told Blackwell unsolicited that he was going commando that day. Less surprising was his confession that he would rather win a Tony award than an Oscar, but who knew he could structure a whole summer camp class around the awards ceremony?
Groff is currently performing in The Submission at Manhattan’s Lucille Lortel Theatre. Are you planning to see it, PopWatchers? How do you think Michele feels to be a goat’s namesake? Or did I lose you at “going commando”?
