The musical, which ran on Broadway from 1964 to 1967 and originally starred Barbra Streisand, revolves around Brice awaiting the return of her husband Arnstein from prison, recalling their life together as she rose to show business stardom. Sydney Chaplin played Arnstein in the first Broadway production, and Omar Sharif played him in the 1968 film that also starred Ms. Streisand.
