Houma Man calls police on his dealer after being sold fake crack cocaine

HOUMA, LA (NBC33) — It’s not too often people call police for assistance after being duped during an illegal transaction. However, it does happen and in this case, it landed both men involved behind bars.

The Houma Police Department reports that on Saturday, July 7 at about 11:00 a.m. they were sent out to a call about a man who was harassing people for money and threatening them with a screwdriver. The suspect, Keith Ross, 50, was issued a summons for Aggravated Assault and was released.

Shortly thereafter police were called to a motel on New Orleans Boulevard where they spoke to the complainant, Edward Parr, 43. He explained to police that Ross had sold him fake drugs and fled with his $100. He said that Ross had sold him a bag full of shaved bits of soap and not the crack he was intending to purchase.

Parr was then arrested for Conspiracy to Purchase Crack Cocaine.

Ross was relocated and arrested for Distribution of Fake Crack Cocaine and Theft Under $300. This time he was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

Ross was additionally charged with public intimidation after police said he made threats of what he would do upon his release.
