Leanne Mitchell Wins The Voice UK

Leanne Mitchell has won the first series of BBC singing competition The Voice.
Mitchell, mentored by Sir Tom Jones, looked stunned after the result of the public vote was announced in Saturday's live show and said: "I am starting to believe in myself."
She beat Tyler James, mentored by Will.i.am, and Bo Bruce, mentored by Danny O'Donoghue.

"Desperate Housewives" Emmy Winner Kathryn Joosten Dies at 72

(Reuters) - "Desperate Housewives" actress Kathryn Joosten, who won two Emmy awards for her supporting role as a nosy neighbor on the recently ended hit show, died of lung cancer on Saturday, her spokeswoman said. She was 72.

Joosten died with her family at her side at home in Westlake Village, 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles, said her publicist, Nadine Jolson. She had battled the disease since being diagnosed in 2001.

Her death came less than three weeks after the airing of the final episode of "Desperate Housewives" in which Joosten's character, Karen McCluskey, died of the illness with the Johnny Mathis song "Wonderful, Wonderful" playing in her room.

Joosten's gossipy character often butted heads and occasionally joined in schemes with the main female characters on the show, Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle.

Besides her role as the irritable but often kind-hearted McCluskey on "Desperate Housewives" - which she joined in 2005 - Joosten was known for playing the secretary to fictional U.S. President Josiah Bartlet on "The West Wing," an acclaimed drama program that ended in 2006.

Joosten's career as an actress began in middle age, after she worked as a psychiatric nurse and had been married and divorced.

She worked as a street performer at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in the early 1990s before moving on to character roles on television in "Murphy Brown," "Frasier" and "The Drew Carey Show."

Her other credits included supporting roles on the soap opera "General Hospital" and the films "Hostage" (2005) and "Bedtime Stories" (2008).

Joosten won an Emmy in 2005 and another in 2008, both for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her work on "Desperate Housewives."

"We are laughing through our tears," her family said in a statement. She is survived by her sons, Jonathan and Timothy.

Adam Levine Caught Locking Lips With Behati Prinsloo

Maroon 5′s Adam Levine was caught locking lips with Victoria’s Secret model, Behati Prinsloo — just months after breaking up with another lingerie model, Anne Vyalitsyna.

Adam and Behati were in Hawaii this week for a friend’s wedding when a photographer captured the kiss; the pair also held hands as they chatted with pals at a pre-wedding party on May 28.

Levine, who was also spotted riding a bike, admits in a new magazine interview he has been “a little bit of a bimbo.” Speaking about his history of dating “pretty girls,” he told Details magazine: “Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much.”

Queen Latifah Did Not Come Out At Long Beach Pride

When Queen Latifah performed at Long Beach Pride and told the audience that she's happy to be with "her people," many hos, including this one, thought that was her subtle way of letting us know that she gets the mustache on the regular if you know what I mean. But Queen Latifah tells Entertainment Weekly that she hasn't given up her space in the closet and whose crotch she puts her lips on at the end of the night is in her personal file and you'll never have the password for it. Queen said that when she called the audience "her people" she meant that they were all there together to fight against hatred and bullies. You know, some U.N.I.T.Y. shit.

On the news that she came out at Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride: “That definitely wasn’t the case. I’ve never dealt with the question of my personal life in public. It’s just not gonna happen.”
On going to a gay club with Tupac: “To me, doing a gay pride show is one of the most fun things. My first show that paid more than $10,000 was in a gay club on New Year’s Eve in San Francisco. Tupac happened to be in town, so he came to kick it with me. This was the early ’90s. And the boys were like, ‘Take your shirt off, Tupac!’ He wasn’t doing that. But we had a blast in there.”
On what she meant by calling the audience "her people": “I know that the most important thing and the only thing I have to give is love. When people are going through hatred and bullying, the biggest thing to fight that is love. So that’s all I encouraged my audience to do that night: to share their light and share their love. Period.”

I guess it's not her time to fully come out yet...

Andy Samberg Leaving SNL

Not another one! Andy Samberg has become the latest comedian to leave Saturday Night Live.
In an interview with the New York Times Friday, Samberg said he would not return in the fall.

“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Samberg said. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.”

Samberg-octopus

Samberg joined NBC’s latenight show in 2005, where he became the go-to guy for creating brilliant viral videos. Together with collaborators Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, the three made the memorable “Lazy Sunday” rap video. Other Samberg creations that cracked the zeitgeist included two faux-music videos with Justin Timberlake that involved, um, mother-loving and certain male members packaged in the box. (Here’s the famous “D— in a Box” digital short, which launched Timberlake and Samberg’s comedy duo back in December 2006.)

Samberg, who is set to star in the upcoming film That’s My Boy opposite Adam Sandler, joins Kristen Wiig on the way out the door. “She kept saying it just feels like it’s her time,” he told the NYT. “I connect with that. Something about it just feels like it’s the moment. My contract’s up and I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever even do.”

Green Lantern is Gay!

One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.

The original Green Lantern - a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years - will be revealed to be a gay man in next week's issue of "Earth 2."

Alan Scott - formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 - tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.

"He's very much the character he was. He's still the pinnacle of bravery and idealism. He's also gay," "Earth 2" writer James Robinson told The Post.

The Emerald Guardian's sexuality was rebooted along with the rest of his fictional universe as part of DC's "New 52" initiative aimed at rejuvenating their characters.

Robinson said he decided to make the change because making the character young again meant erasing Scott's gay superhero son out of existence.

"The only downside of his being young was we lose his son, Obsidian, who's gay. So I thought, 'Why not make Alan Scott gay?'" Robinson recalled. "That was the seed that started it."
He ran his idea by the bosses at DC, "who signed off on it without hesitation."
